"AC Milan have long been credited with interest in Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, and according to Calciomercato, they're preparing an offer to obtain his services in January. Gomez has been getting very little game time under Arne Slot this season, the only start he's made so far being in the Carabao Cup against Southampton, along with two appearances off the bench in the Premier League."
"As versatile as he is - a centre-back able to play literally anywhere across the back line and even tested a few times as a defensive midfielder - the 28-year-old hasn't played at a level required to seriously challenge for a starting spot for a while now. Gomez was reportedly close to joining Milan at the end of the summer, but then Liverpool failed to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace and decided against reducing the number 0f centre-backs in their squad."
AC Milan are preparing a January bid to sign Liverpool defender Joe Gomez. Gomez has seen very little playing time under Arne Slot this season, with only a Carabao Cup start against Southampton and two Premier League substitute appearances. He remains versatile, able to play across the back line and as a defensive midfielder, but he has not performed at a level to seriously challenge for a regular starting role recently. A summer move nearly materialized, but Liverpool retained defensive depth after failing to sign Marc Guehi. In January Gomez will have 18 months left on his contract, making a low-cost sale unlikely.
