Cue: Apple will add AI search in mobile Safari, challenging Google
Briefly

Eddie Cue, Apple executive, indicated that the company is examining the potential of using AI-driven search engines within its Safari browser. This shift comes as Safari experienced a decline in search usage for the first time last year, driven by users adopting AI models for searches. During his testimony at the DOJ's antitrust trial against Google, Cue expressed that there are now valid alternatives to Apple's traditional reliance on Google for search. Although some AI-based options will be included in Safari settings, they may not become the default due to current indexing limitations.
Prior to AI, my feeling around this was, none of the others were valid choices. I think today there is much greater potential because there are new entrants attacking the problem in a different way.
We will add them to the list. They probably won't be the default because they still need to improve, particularly when it comes to indexing.
