""It's a really good time," Black said. "Everyone gets a job in the circus; everybody builds tents. And, you're ushering in people to their seats or tables, selling tickets in the ticket booth or going out to the community with flyers. "This year, I'm marketing manager - selling tickets, working with marketing people and the press and photographers. It's fun being a level up and managing those things.""
"Portland-area fans get to experience the Flynn Creek Circus at Clark College in Vancouver in a show titled The Bridge: A Daring, Original Fairytale with Acrobats, Comedy, and Myth. It also performed for the masses at Zidell Yards in Portland last year. This year it takes place under the big top on Clark College's athletic annex practice soccer fields. The circus works to schedule visits to places where circuses do not normally appear. So, it's happy to be in Vancouver."
Flynn Creek Circus operates as a touring tent circus that emphasizes collaborative production and community outreach. Performers routinely help build tents, sell tickets, usher, and promote shows while also performing acrobatics, aerials, Russian swing, and Chinese pole acts. The company schedules performances in nontraditional circus locations and tours from Santa Cruz, California, to the Portland area. The Vancouver engagement at Clark College features The Bridge: A Daring, Original Fairytale with Acrobats, Comedy, and Myth, including a benefit night for Clark College athletics and an Adults Only show option.
