Murder, She Didn't Write opened its UK tour at the Duchess Theatre in the West End after more than ten successful years at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The improvised whodunnit is set in 1934 and features Cluedo-like monochrome costumes whose colours become character surnames. The audience selects the scenario, murder weapon, victim and murderer, and the six-member cast improvises the story. One performer serves as the Detective narrator, guiding action, choosing an assistant called Jerkins, and controlling scene flow. Audience participation included throwing a deerstalker hat to recruit Jerkins and selecting a miniature Titanic weapon that was revealed to be made of cake. The chosen scenario became a BBC-style radio dating show adaptation.
