2026 Opening Day moved to March 27 for Atlanta Braves
"Initially, the Braves were scheduled to start their season on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at home (for a change) against the Kansas City Royals. Instead, they'll now be getting things started under the lights a night later on Friday, March 27, 2026. That'll be a night game and I'd imagine that all the bells and whistles that come with a Friday night game in Cobb County (i.e. red jerseys and postgame fireworks) are going to come with that as well."
"This now makes for a weird quirk where we'll have the season open up officially on that Wednesday with the Giants and Yankees randomly kicking the season off on their own before the rest of Major League Baseball gets their season going on Thursday before the Braves and Royals join the party on Friday. It's a bit strange but hey, we'll all be seated on that Friday night to see the Braves start"
The Atlanta Braves season opener moved from Thursday, March 26, 2026 to Friday, March 27, 2026, shifting the home matchup against the Kansas City Royals to a night game. The Friday night game is likely to feature red jerseys and postgame fireworks typical of Cobb County promotions. Major League Baseball's calendar will open in a staggered fashion, with the Giants and Yankees playing Wednesday, most teams starting Thursday, and the Braves beginning on Friday. The scheduling change creates an irregular Opening Day pattern and delays the Braves' first game by one day ahead of expectations.
