Sean Murphy status for Cubs series uncertain, Eli White in concussion protocol
"Outfielder Eli White, who's wall-crashing catch in right field with two outs and the bases loaded in the sixth inning prevented the Dodgers from scoring, is in the concussion protocol after exiting the game in the eighth inning, according to multiple reports, including from Bowman. If White missed a few games, the Braves could opt to activate Ha-Seong Kim ahead of the Chicago Cubs series on Tuesday, since multiple players on Atlanta's bench can cover the outfield."
Sean Murphy has struggled with injuries since joining the Atlanta Braves before the 2023 season, including missing the end of 2025 and the start of 2026 due to hip surgery. In a 7-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, Murphy was called for catcher's interference after Hyeseong Kim’s bat nicked him, and Drake Baldwin replaced him behind the plate. Early injury reports were positive, but the Braves planned to provide an update only on Tuesday. With Jonah Heim designated for assignment and traded, Atlanta could use Chadwick Tromp or Sandy Leon if Murphy misses time, and might seek a higher-end backup catcher. Eli White entered concussion protocol after a wall crash, and Ha-Seong Kim could be activated for the Cubs series if needed.
