This Is the Best Nightlife Destination in the World-and No, It's Not New York City
"In November, the digital entertainment platform JB revealed its list of the best cities for nightlife. To create the rankings, the team put together a seed list of cities around the globe known for party atmosphere and scored them based on factors such as safety, bar and pub density, available nighttime activities, average dinner costs, drink prices, venue ratings, and typical closing times. Each city was assigned a Nightlife Index score from 0 to 100."
""The bar's island design, which deliberately eschews expectations for what a bar should look like, remains as eye-catching as ever, and drinks are a spectacle in themselves, showcasing intricate presentation and bold flavors," the report stated. "Take, for example, the Nixtamil: a red fruit reduction that's licked from a small mirror, preparing the palate for a mixture of bourbon and corn and miso distillate.""
JB ranked global cities for nightlife by assembling a seed list of party-known cities and scoring them on safety, bar and pub density, nighttime activities, dinner and drink costs, venue ratings, and typical closing times. Each city received a Nightlife Index score from 0 to 100. Barcelona topped the rankings with 310 bars and pubs, 636 nightlife activities, average bar closing at 6 a.m., and average drink price of $4.65 USD. The city hosts famed bar Sips, noted for its island design and theatrical drinks. Paris placed second with 334 bars but higher drink prices and earlier closing times. Tokyo has 4,343 bars and pubs but fewer non-bar nighttime activities.
