Foundation of the Women's Bundesliga FBL e.V.
"Following the recent highly successful collaboration in the "Geschäftsplan Frauen-Bundesliga Projekt GbR" (Women's Bundesliga Business Plan Project), this will culminate in the founding of the Women's Bundesliga FBL e.V., in which the clubs will organise themselves collectively with the clear aim of ensuring the modern, professional and sustainable development of the Women's Bundesliga and strengthening the commercial potential of professional women's football."
"The basis for the merger of the clubs is the intention to invest significantly in women's football, to promote it in sporting terms and make it more visible in society, thereby raising it to a new professional level. Whether the process that has been initiated, in which the German Football Association (DFB) has also recently been involved, will be continued together with the DFB in the future is still open at this stage."
"We are united by the desire to put the Women's Bundesliga on a new, sustainable footing. The key points for the establishment of a joint FBL GmbH had already been agreed in the discussions with the DFB, so it was all the more surprising for us clubs that the cornerstones negotiated are now being called into question - even though the clubs will be investing significantly more in the Women's Bundesliga in comparison."
Fourteen first-division clubs will found the Women's Bundesliga FBL e.V. on 10 December to organise collectively for the modern, professional and sustainable development of the Women's Bundesliga. The clubs aim to strengthen the commercial potential of professional women's football and invest significantly to raise sporting standards and societal visibility. The merger follows collaboration in the "Geschäftsplan Frauen-Bundesliga Projekt GbR" and represents a concerted effort to professionalize the league. The involvement of the German Football Association (DFB) remains uncertain, and the foundation will proceed without DFB participation despite earlier plans and negotiations.
