"No one can deny that the former RB Leipzig star has set himself apart with his performances this term. A pay rise is most certainly deserved, and it's reassuring that both parties appear able to progress talks over an updated contract. How many of Europe's elite could afford, or would be willing to afford, Laimer's exceptional salary demands to prise him from Munich? The list would seem to be especially slim."
Konrad Laimer initially indicated he would extend his stay in Bavaria only with a significant pay rise, believed to exceed €15m, which FC Bayern opposed. Bayern and Laimer later held talks about his future at Säbener Straße, following a period of silence after a December 2025 meeting. Another meeting took place to discuss his contract, and Laimer has shown he may not be seeking as much money as in earlier talks. He wants to remain at Bayern Munich because his family is based in Salzburg, where he has a house about an hour and a half to two hours from Munich. He also features frequently for a top European club that reached the Champions League final after a semi-final win over PSG.
