BeerBoard: On-Premise Volumes Drop Big on Thanksgiving Eve
"Both draft (-10%) and packaged beverage-alcohol (-14.9%) suffered double-digit volume declines in the on-premise on the night before Thanksgiving, according to market research firm BeerBoard. While aforementioned year-over-year (YoY) declines may be disheartening for brewers and bar owners, Thanksgiving Eve (November 26) recorded serious lift compared to the prior Wednesday. Draft beer (+41.8%) and packaged goods (+31%) both increased week-over-week (WoW). At the brand level, Anheuser-Busch InBev's (A-B) Busch Light posted YoY gains in both draft (+6.5%) and package (+30.4%)."
"Constellation's Modelo Especial (+149.7% in package, +66.8% on draft) led the way in WoW growth, followed by A-B's Michelob Ultra (+87.7% in package, +56.9% on draft), Constellation's Corona Extra (+81.9% in package) and Molson Coors' Miller Lite (+45.8%). Michelob Ultra was the No. 1 draft brand by volume with 15.5% share, followed by No. 2 Miller Lite (10%), No. 3 Modelo Especial (8.8%) and No. 4 Coors Light (7.5%)."

Thanksgiving Eve delivered week-over-week lifts: draft beer +41.8% and packaged goods +31%. Busch Light posted YoY gains in draft (+6.5%) and package (+30.4%). Other YoY gainers included Pacifico (+17.2% draft), Guinness (+7.5% draft), Surfside Iced Tea and Lemonade + Vodka (+18.3% package) and Heineken 0.0 (+5.3% package). Modelo Especial led WoW growth (+149.7% package, +66.8% draft). Michelob Ultra was the top draft brand with 15.5% share. Lagers expanded package share while RTD, hard seltzer and FMB total share rose to 22.2%.
