"We're thrilled to once again host the World Championships at Purgatory Resort. Biking and Durango are synonymous. This is a chance to showcase our community's commitment to the sport with the entire world."
"Mountain biking and cycling are woven into Durango's DNA. From our pioneering spirit to our junior development programs, Durango is a true heartland of cycling. The 2030 Worlds will showcase that on a global stage once again."
"Hosting the Worlds is both a tribute to our past and an investment in our future. The world's best will once again race on trails that continue to build legends right here in our backyard."
Durango and Purgatory Resort will host the 2030 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, marking 40 years since the inaugural 1990 Worlds. Durango will also stage a major international race in 2028 and a UCI World Cup round in 2029. Events at Purgatory will include Downhill, Cross‑Country Olympic, Short Track, and Ebike disciplines. The region features over 300 miles of singletrack across desert to alpine terrain at roughly 6,500 feet elevation. Local development pathways and Fort Lewis College’s cycling program have produced Olympians and top professionals, with riders such as Sepp Kuss and Asa Vermette emerging from the area.
