Mads Pedersen officially clinched the Giro d'Italia ciclamino points jersey on stage 21, marking a successful outing for Lidl-Trek, which secured six stage victories from three different riders. Pedersen not only achieved his second points jersey victory but also led the race for five days earlier. Despite a setback with the loss of key General Classification rider Giulio Ciccone, the team's performance at the Giro was exceptionally strong, with Pedersen stating that reaching such heights in victories is "absolutely insane" for the squad.
"We have six stage victories and the ciclamino jersey, it's incredible. Not a lot of teams will ever be able to do this, so for us this is absolutely insane to be able to do it."
This is the Dane's second sprints jersey victory, after taking the equivalent title at the Vuelta a España in 2022, and a comeback from when he targeted the classification in the 2023 Giro but had to abandon the race.
