Pre-race favourite Antonio Tiberi out of Tour of the Alps with sickness

Antonio Tiberi, the pre-race favorite from Bahrain Victorious, has abandoned the Tour of the Alps due to gastrointestinal illness. Although he had initial struggles in stage 1, his exit occurred mid-stage 2, unrelated to a crash. The team confirmed that this decision permits Tiberi to recover and prepare for the Giro d'Italia, his main goal. Meanwhile, Bahrain Victorious still performed well, with Fran Miholjević and Finlay Pickering showing strong efforts, while Damiano Caruso stepped up into the top ten overall.

Antonio Tiberi has abandoned the Tour of the Alps on Stage 2 due to a gastrointestinal illness. He will now take time to recover and prepare for the Giro.

This race was set to be Tiberi's final preparation ahead of the Giro d'Italia, where he claimed fifth overall and the best young rider's jersey last year.
