"This week's e-bike news is all about exactly that-things that are new! We have a new e-bike release from Trek, a sneak peek at Rivian's upcoming e-bike, and new helmet technology that is proving safer than MIPS. Trek's new model, an electric gravel bike called the Checkpoint+ SL, is available in three spec tiers. All of them are equipped with TQ's 350W peak HPR60 mid-drive and are advertised to weigh between 30 and 31 lbs."
"Rivian's e-bike brand ALSO released a teaser video for its upcoming e-bike. While the bike was blurred out in most of the video, a few frames were found to contain relatively clear images that allow for some speculation on its features. RLS is a new helmet technology proving more effective than MIPS in reducing rotational forces that can cause traumatic brain injuries. Canyon is among the first manufacturers debuting the technology, with its Deflectr helmet earning the highest rating from Virginia Tech's helmet lab"
Trek introduced the Checkpoint+ SL electric gravel bike in three spec tiers with ultra-light carbon frames, the TQ HPR60 mid-drive upgraded to 350W peak and 60 Nm, and internal 360 Wh batteries estimated at 50 miles of range. The bikes ship with Bontrager Girona Pro 700x42c tires and accept up to 50mm tires, with tubeless ML weights between 30.34 and 30.98 lbs. The SL 5 has a 12-speed Shimano GRX, alloy wheels, carbon fork, and Class 3 speeds to 28 mph. Rivian released a teaser video with a few clear frames for speculation. RLS helmet technology reduces rotational forces more effectively than MIPS, and Canyon’s Deflectr helmet earned Virginia Tech’s highest lab rating.
