The wildfires that have engulfed Turkiye for weeks have surrounded the country's fourth-largest city, leading to the evacuation of more than 1,765 people and causing the tragic death of one firefighter.
As more than 1,900 firefighters continue to battle the flames, authorities have reported that 3,000 hectares (7,413 acres) around Bursa have been scorched, with 84 separate blazes ongoing across the country.
The situation has been exacerbated by unusually high temperatures, reaching a historic 50.5 degrees Celsius, coupled with dry conditions and strong winds fueling the raging fires.
The government has declared Izmir and Bilecik provinces as disaster areas as the wildfires, described by opposition parliamentarian Orhan Saribal as an apocalypse, threaten communities and forested regions.
