Curtis Lind, a landlord in Vallejo, was brutally attacked by a group of squatters despite his friend Patrick McMillan's calls to the police. During the incident on November 13, 2022, McMillan reported threats to Lind's life but police failed to arrive, resulting in Lind being severely injured. He ultimately defended himself, shooting two attackers, one of whom died. The attackers, Suri Dao and Alexander Jeffrey Leatham, face multiple charges including felony murder and attempted murder. Lind's use of self-defense was legally acknowledged amid devastating circumstances.
When Lind was finally found, he was screaming for help with a sword embedded in his chest, and he was bleeding profusely. His friend was horrified.
Testimony revealed that Lind tried to call for help as squatters threatened his life, but police failed to respond in time, culminating in a violent attack.
