'Bob's Burgers' creator and animator dish on new book and show's 300th episode milestone
"It's something Loren and I spoke about for ages. We've always wanted to do one. And, then we really wanted to do one for the movie. And unfortunately, we just never got around to it. We're too busy making the show. So, this was just a great opportunity to do everything we've done on the show from the very start, and also include all the stuff we did on the movie, which is awesome,"
"Even if you're a big fan, you might not know about the comic books, or you might not have seen some of these one-offs that we did for posters."
"We're all just so lucky that it has gone this long. I came over from Australia to work on the show, but I never imagined I would be... I thought I might have worked on ten different shows, and pretty much I'm still here on the same show. We're just so lucky here. It's great,"
Loren Bouchard and Bernard Derriman created The Art of Bob's Burgers to provide a tangible, comprehensive collection of the show's visual history and creative work. The book gathers material from the series' inception and the feature film, including concept art, posters, comic-book material, and rare one-offs. Bouchard wanted a physical object fans could hold alongside the on-screen experience. Derriman described long-standing interest in producing a book but noted production demands delayed it until now. The Bob's Burgers franchise recently reached its 300th episode with season 16, and Derriman, who moved from Australia to work on the show, expressed gratitude for its longevity.
