Haverhill teacher arraigned on charges of faking credentials, stolen valor
Briefly

Lissa Lagasse, a 57-year-old teacher from Lowell, was arrested after being accused of falsifying her educational qualifications and military background. She allegedly misrepresented herself as a military combat veteran and a Purple Heart recipient to secure teaching positions in multiple school districts, including Haverhill. After inconsistencies regarding her credentials surfaced, particularly linked to a service animal incident, she was placed on administrative leave. Lagasse faces serious charges including identity fraud and larceny, and she has pleaded not guilty, with a court date set for July 28.
Haverhill school officials told Boston 25 that inconsistencies about Lagasse's credentials and background came to light following an incident involving her service animal.
Lagasse was charged with three counts of pretending to hold degrees, identity fraud, reckless endangerment of a child, and other serious offenses.
