Kelly Dever, a former Canton police officer and now a Boston police officer, testified during Karen Read's retrial. She claimed her lawyers were pressured into false testimony concerning a key witness's presence. Dever recounted her experience at the scene where Read's boyfriend was found unresponsive and acknowledged her continued role in dispatch after the incident. The defense attorney hinted at federal inquiries about her involvement, while Dever expressed uncertainty about the purpose of her testimony, stating it felt disconnected from the case.
"They did not want me to tell the truth," Kelly Dever, now a Boston police officer, testified Monday.
Dever stated she was working as a patrol officer in Canton when Read's boyfriend was found unresponsive in the snow.
Defense attorney Alan Jackson confirmed Dever's first interview in connection to Read's case occurred in August 2023, hinting at a federal probe.
Dever also mentioned, "I can't make that statement on the stand, because I've been provided information released by the defense."
