Narcotics smugglers charged, arrested in death of Brooklyn 4-year-old
"BROOKLYN - FEDERAL PROSECUTORS unsealed an indictment Tuesday charging Ahuva Katzin, 33, and Yitzchok Sklar, 34, also known as "Isak Sklar," with conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death in connection with the fentanyl poisoning of Sklar's 4-year-old child on March 4, 2025, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. Prosecutors allege the pair distributed fentanyl, para-fluorofentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine from at least 2023 through 2025, and that the child's exposure to fentanyl and para-fluorofentanyl caused his death in a Brooklyn apartment."
"Authorities allege Sklar called for an ambulance, then tried to hide narcotics; surveillance video shows him leaving the apartment with a black bag and returning without it. The bag was later recovered from a nearby rental car and contained fentanyl, para-fluorofentanyl and heroin, prosecutors said. Katzin and Sklar were arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 3; Sklar was expected in court Tuesday and Katzin Wednesday. The charge carries a mandatory minimum of 20 years and a maximum of life in prison."
