Proofpoint completed the acquisition of Hornetsecurity for $1.8 billion (€1.54 billion), adding Microsoft 365 security, data protection, and compliance capabilities focused on SMEs and MSPs. The transaction expands reach to more than 125,000 customers through 12,000 MSPs and channel partners and advances a strategy to make the security platform accessible to organizations of all sizes. Hornetsecurity's flagship 365 Total Protection provides email security, backup, compliance, awareness training, and access control with a multi-tenant control panel for MSPs. Hornetsecurity reports nearly $200 million ARR and about 20% annual growth and will operate as a separate division led by founder Daniel Hofmann.
