At Lower Trestles in San Onofre State Park, a boat plowed through a crowded surf lineup on Friday, narrowly missing multiple surfers and causing widespread alarm. Surfline video captured the incident as surfers scrambled; several outside paddlers yelled warnings that likely prevented injuries. California State Parks cited the boater for reckless or negligent operation of a vessel and forwarded the citation to the local district attorney for potential additional penalties. Officials said no one was injured and emphasized continued commitment to visitor safety on the water and along the coast. Lower Trestles is a consistent California surf break and the designated 2028 Olympic surfing venue.
