Legoland to add first new roller coaster in 2 decades
"The Galacticoaster is a Space Mountain-style indoor coaster set to open in the Carlsbad theme park in 2026. Merlin Magic Making, the parent company of Legoland theme parks, made its largest investment ever - a collective $90 million - to bring the "most technologically advanced attraction the Resort has ever created" to life in both the California and Florida parks. In Carlsbad, the new roller coaster is part of a new galaxy-themed land, official name not yet released, also scheduled to open in 2026."
""We've pulled inspiration from LEGO sets families have loved for decades, while layering in modern technology to create the most immersive and personalized coaster experience yet," Flora Liu, senior project manager at Merlin Magic Making, said in a statement. Galacticoaster will blast off from Legoland Spaceport 886, named in recognition of one of the original Lego Space Buggy sets, No. 886, introduced back in 1979.More than 500 workers are building the nearly 1,500-foot-long track that will reside inside a 30-foot-tall, 30,000-square-foot building."
Legoland will open a galaxy-themed land and debut the Galacticoaster, its first new roller coaster in 20 years, in 2026. Merlin Magic Making invested $90 million across California and Florida to create what it called the Resort's most technologically advanced attraction. Galacticoaster is a Space Mountain-style indoor coaster inside a 30-foot-tall, 30,000-square-foot building with nearly 1,500 feet of track built by more than 500 workers. The ride will launch from Legoland Spaceport 886, named for original Lego set No. 886 introduced in 1979. The new land will include two additional unnamed rides and a junior astronaut training zone for toddlers.
