Canada is chasing back to back Olympic gold and the pressure is massive
"Canada does well in the Winter Olympics, but is women's hockey Canada's best shot at a gold medal? With the Canadian women's hockey team on an impressive run of form in Olympic competition, it's hard to argue against them being the favorite to win it all once again. Five of the last six Olympic hockey tournaments saw the Canadian women win gold, while the lone non-Canadian gold was a silver medal in the 2018 tournament."
"Of the eight teams in the PWHL, the Toronto Sceptres will be the most-represented team by the women's Olympic roster; six of the 23 players selected play their club hockey in Toronto. The Vancouver Goldeneyes, one of the two expansion franchises that recently began play, will have the second-most representation on the roster; five Goldeneyes players will head to Italy to play for Olympic gold."
The Canadian women's hockey team is the favorite for Olympic gold, having claimed five of the last six Olympic hockey tournaments with the lone non-Canadian victory in 2018. The Olympic roster contains 23 players, 16 of whom represented Canada in 2022, and all play in the PWHL. Club representation includes six players from the Toronto Sceptres, five each from the Vancouver Goldeneyes and Montreal Victoire, three each from Ottawa Charge and New York Sirens, one from Seattle Torrent, and none from Minnesota Frost or Boston Fleet. Kati Tabin has posted a roughly +5 average while driving Montreal's postseason appearances, and Sophie Jaques offered near point-per-game offense and helped Minnesota to two championships.
