Safer Steps My Way is the first harm reduction program in Ontario for adults with intellectual disabilities, addressing barriers to support for substance abuse. Co-created with lived experience associates, the program ensures accessibility and person-centered care. Funded by Health Canada, it launched in January and has received numerous referrals. The initiative aims to fill a critical gap in services, providing comprehensive support through a team of professionals, including behaviour analysts and wellness counsellors, to help individuals navigate their substance use challenges.
