Chris Scott, the MPP for Sault Ste. Marie, is facing charges of assault and assault with a weapon and has retained counsel. Scott has stepped away from partisan and non-essential public appearances but says his constituency office remains open and he remains committed to serving constituents. He won his seat by 114 votes in February, has faced public calls to resign, says he has community support, and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 22.
