Lucid CEO shades Tesla Model S: "Nothing has changed in 12 years now"
"We have seen an uptick, that's definitely the case, in Europe and also here in the US," Winterhoff stated."
"The Model S, nothing has changed in 12 years now. . . (customers) are actively looking for other options," he said."
Lucid is seeing increased sales from former Tesla owners in Europe and the US. Contributing factors include an aging Tesla Model S and customer dissatisfaction tied to Tesla leadership's political activities. Uber has increased its stake in Lucid and placed an order for 20,000 units of the Lucid Gravity, positioned against the Tesla Model X. Lucid plans an affordable SUV competitor to the Tesla Model Y priced around $50,000 to reach the next growth stage. The Tesla Model S received a Plaid upgrade in 2021 and a refresh earlier this year, though its body remains similar to the original while mechanical and electrical components were updated.
