The Best Cars of 2026, According to Experts
"I hang a right onto the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail in the hills north of Santa Barbara, and the 2026 Lucid Gravity seems to defy physics. My hands grip the steering wheel as the vehicle carves country roads with a slalom skier's dexterity and the gusto of a much smaller car. Not bad for the seven-seat, all-electric SUV, which handily wins Esquire's Car of the Year."
"Three-row SUVs usually either have a lot of space but aren't much fun to drive, park, or get around, or they're sporty and dynamic but lack the space, says Derek Jenkins, Lucid's senior vice president of design. When we began planning Gravity five years ago, we saw an opportunity to do an SUV with plenty of interior space that still drives like a performance sedan."
The 2026 Lucid Gravity is a seven-seat all-electric SUV that combines sedan-like handling with spacious three-row accommodation. The vehicle carves country roads with agility and delivers 828 horsepower in the dual-motor Grand Touring configuration. Estimated range reaches about 450 miles per charge and base price starts at $94,900. Minimalist interior design includes a 34-inch 6K OLED touch screen and a square steering wheel positioned below the driver's line of sight. Development blended automotive and technology industry expertise to emphasize software and connectivity. Packaging priorities include a prominent frunk and interior space without sacrificing dynamic driving character. The team assembled alumni from legacy automakers and major tech firms to achieve this integration.
