""I didn't feel like I could do a traditional Christmas collection," Westman exclusively tells AD. "So we changed the scope.""
""People online were not happy," he said. "They were like, Where do I put the gravy?""
""The design world can sometimes take themselves very seriously," he says. "And I'm just trying to have fun.""
Westman shifted away from a traditional Christmas collection and narrowed the scope to emphasize playful, colorful holiday tableware inspired by his mother's Swedish holiday tables. The palette centers on cherry red LED candelabra paired with emerald green ceramic plates and votive holders to create a vibrant, joyful aesthetic. A rectangular meatball plate was introduced late in the collection as a mostly single-purpose piece, which generated online questions about practical use for gravy. The collection intentionally prioritizes fun and a celebratory spirit, offering a lighter counterpoint to the seriousness often seen in the design world.
