UK government looking at social media app caps' for children, minister suggests
Briefly

Ministers are considering implementing an app cap or curfew to limit children's access to social media, aiming to prevent addiction and encourage a healthier relationship with technology. Technology Secretary Peter Kyle emphasized the importance of protecting children from excessive smartphone use and promoting positive online behaviors. He revealed potential measures, such as two-hour curfews and content blocking during specific times. While a total ban on social media for under-16s isn't on the table, Kyle is reviewing all strategies to ensure online safety and facilitate healthy digital engagement for children.

I want to nail down harder on safety, but I want to use that safety for a purpose, which is... to understand what is a healthy online life for children.
