Go-Ahead has initiated a large-scale charge management software deployment from BetterFleet to enhance the performance of its electric bus fleet, which is among the largest in Europe. The system will initially support over 1,000 electric buses and chargers in 20 UK depots, with plans for expansion to 1,500 units in 30 depots by the end of 2025. BetterFleet's software integrates different charger types, streamlines operations, and provides real-time insights. Core features include automated load deferral and incident management to reduce downtime and maintenance costs, thereby optimizing energy consumption and infrastructure usage.
The rollout represents one of the most extensive and complex applications of charge management technology in the public transport sector.
