Imgur blocked access for users in the United Kingdom, displaying an error that content is not available in the region and preventing embedded Imgur content from showing on other sites. The platform’s parent, MediaLab AI, was notified by the Information Commissioner’s Office of a planned fine following an investigation into Imgur’s age-check procedures and handling of children’s personal data. A help article states that from 30 September 2025 UK users will not be able to log in, view content, or upload images. The ICO opened its probe to assess compliance with UK data protection laws and the children’s code and has issued a notice of intent to impose a fine while considering any representations from MediaLab.
