Imgur blocks access to UK users after proposed regulatory fine
"from September 30, 2025, access to Imgur from the United Kingdom is no longer available"
"UK users will not be able to log in, view content, or upload images. Imgur content embedded on third-party sites will not display for UK users."
"Our findings are provisional and the ICO will carefully consider any representations from MediaLab before taking a final decision whether to issue a monetary penalty,"
Imgur blocked access for users in the United Kingdom, displaying an error that content is not available in the region and preventing embedded Imgur content from showing on other sites. The platform’s parent, MediaLab AI, was notified by the Information Commissioner’s Office of a planned fine following an investigation into Imgur’s age-check procedures and handling of children’s personal data. A help article states that from 30 September 2025 UK users will not be able to log in, view content, or upload images. The ICO opened its probe to assess compliance with UK data protection laws and the children’s code and has issued a notice of intent to impose a fine while considering any representations from MediaLab.
