A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning has also been extended to all counties in Connacht, where lightning damage is possible until 2pm. Storm Amy will bring very ­difficult travel conditions and is expected to cause flooding in Kerry, with the potential for further localised flooding in other counties."

Gardaí have urged extreme care. Status Yellow rain warnings cover Cavan, Donegal, Longford, Munster and Connacht until 8pm. A wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo upgrades to Status Orange tomorrow 2pm–10pm for near-gale to gale-force winds, risking fallen trees, power damage, outages and wave overtopping. The rest of the country has a Status Yellow wind warning from 12pm tomorrow to midnight Saturday.
