Germany, Ulm and Neu-Ulm will have further 37 Mercedes eCitaro in operation - Sustainable Bus

SWU Verkehr has awarded a contract to Daimler Buses for 37 electric Mercedes eCitaro and eCitaro G buses, with an additional option for nine. This initiative amounts to an investment of 34.6 million euros. Fourteen articulated eCitaro G buses are already in use. The new vehicles, which will be delivered until late 2026, will support the transition from diesel to electric transport. They will feature advanced lithium batteries, high-capacity seating, connectivity for predictive maintenance, and improved accessibility for passengers.
The agreement for 37 fully electric buses represents a total investment of 34.6 million euros, with deliveries continuing through late 2026 and options for additional units in 2027.
The new electric buses will operate in Ulm and Neu-Ulm, with 15 solo buses and 22 articulated buses equipped with NMC4 lithium batteries for high energy density.
Each new eCitaro will include Daimler Buses' Omniplus On Digital Services Package, contracted for 12 years, featuring telemetry for predictive maintenance.
Enhanced accessibility features in the buses include larger multipurpose areas for wheelchairs and prams, alongside climate control managed by a CO₂ air conditioning system.
