International Blue Flags are awarded to bathing areas achieving excellent water quality in an annual classification competition. This year, 12 beaches received both a Blue Flag and a Green Coast Award, earning dual award status. The list includes beaches across Fingal, Galway, Cork, Kerry, Meath, Sligo, and Waterford. Co Kerry received the most Blue Flags in 2026, while Cork received the most Green Coast Awards with 13. For the first time in Ireland, a boat, the Skellig Bounty, received a Blue Flag. Duncannon Beach in Wexford regained a Blue Flag after 2007, and Bunmahon Beach in Waterford returned after 2012, supported by improved bathing water quality from 2022 to 2025. Six 2025 Blue Flag beaches did not receive awards in 2026.
