Alexander Skarsgard Did the Best Possible Promo for Pillion
"I mean, I do have a kid, but what I've done in the past, who I've been with, men, women,"
"To me, what was important was that this felt like an opportunity to tell a story about a subculture I hadn't seen portrayed this way - with so much authenticity."
"Leather gays are scary. I'm no Ray, but I have a little bit of experience from that world, and I know that's not the truthful depiction."
Pillion stars Alexander Skarsgård as Ray, a dominant leader of a biker gang, and Harry Melling as Colin, a man who falls in love with Ray. The film won Best Screenplay in Cannes' Un Certain Regard. Colin's devotion is signaled in the trailer when he replies, "I have an aptitude for devotion." Skarsgård frames the film as an authentic portrayal of the gay leather subculture and seeks to correct previous onscreen depictions that emphasized danger and violence. Skarsgård draws on some personal experience with the leather world. Promotional appearances occurred at the Zurich International Film Festival.
