People shocked by what forest which Avatar was based on looks like now
Briefly

James Cameron's 'Avatar' drew inspiration from Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in China, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, recent footage reveals alarming levels of pollution within one of its caves, filled with rubbish and sewage due to visitor waste and illegal discharges from local farmers. This situation has raised concerns among locals about drinking water safety. Authorities have initiated a district-wide investigation to address the environmental degradation caused by years of littering and inadequate waste management, threatening the park's ecological integrity.
Due to an influx of human visitors, the cave is filled with huge piles of litter, including plastic bottles and wrappers.
Authorities believe that debris was discarded by park visitors over more than a decade, with some plastic bottles dating to 2015.
The sewage and garbage has gradually built up in the descending cave like an overflowing toilet, spilling to the surface.
The Ecology and Environment Bureau of Cili County has launched a district-wide investigation alongside authorities to address the pollution issue.
