This train terminates here (and so might you): Horror on the Underground
"Next month, brave souls are invited to descend beneath Russell Square for a talk that proves the London Underground isn't just a transport network - it's a vast subterranean horror franchise waiting to happen. Hosted in the atmospheric basement of the Horse Hospital, the Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies presents Antony Clayton, your very own sinister station announcer, talking about a century of celluloid nightmares lurking beneath the capital."
"On the discussion timetable: Quatermass and the Pit (1967) - archaeology meets Armageddon, because nothing says "heritage preservation" like accidentally summoning ancient Martian demons. Death Line (1972) - where forgotten workers turn cannibal. An American Werewolf in London (1981) - the classic chase that reveals the Tube is essentially a lycanthrope's version of Uber. Creep (2004) - proof that if you're stuck in Charing Cross after midnight, you're not alone... and it's definitely not just engineering works."
The Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies stages an event in the Horse Hospital basement near Russell Square that frames the London Underground as a setting for cinematic horror across a century. Antony Clayton adopts the persona of a sinister station announcer to guide attendees through films and myths from Quatermass and the Pit and Death Line to An American Werewolf in London and Creep. The program revisits Bulldog Jack's Egyptian mummy tale and connects abandoned stations, forgotten workers and after-hours journeys to subterranean terror. Tickets are available and the event runs Tuesday 14th October, 7pm–10:30pm.
