"People are going to see a refreshed Genghis Cohen. They're going to be reminded of everything they loved about it but I think it's truly a Genghis Cohen 2.0,"
"With a lot of iconic places in L.A. both new and old closing, we were so determined to not be another victim,"
"We made the room look really cool, we think it's going be great, we think people are going to love eating in the room so maybe after a little bit we might say hey this could be home forever. We just have to figure that out,"
Genghis Cohen resumed indoor dining after months of takeout and delivery, restoring its unique, iconic decor. Owners Marc Rose and Med Abrous relocated the 42-year-old New York–style Chinese restaurant from 740 N. Fairfax Ave. to 448 N. Fairfax Ave. on June 1 after failing to secure a long-term lease at the original site. The restaurant reopened for diners on Sept. 25 with a refreshed interior and preserved signature dishes such as queen chicken, no name duck and New York-style eggrolls. Allan Rinde opened the restaurant in 1983, ownership changed in 1997 and again in 2015. The new location was spruced up and may become permanent depending on reception.
