"Hotcakes aren't usually finger foods, but they were at Norms Hotcake Eating Championship, held Saturday morning, Sept. 20, at the chain's restaurant in Ontario. An international lineup of competitors had 10 minutes to stuff as many hotcakes into their mouths as they could for a $10,000 purse. The event was sanctioned by Major League Eating, which calls itself the world body that oversees all professional eating contests."
"Norms made 425 hotcakes for the competition, of which 232.25 were eaten, organizers said. Norms gave 50 spectators vouchers to eat for free for up to $20 off their purchase, according to representatives. The event was a leadup to National Hotcake Day on Friday, Sept. 26. On that day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Norms loyalty members can get a short stack of hotcakes for free and others can get a short stack for 99 cents."
