Tom Clare, a lawyer for the Macrons, stated that a defamation suit was filed in Delaware after numerous attempts to engage with Candace Owens about her claims regarding Brigitte Macron's gender. He emphasized, "Each time we've done that, she mocked the Macrons, she mocked our efforts to set the record straight. Enough is enough, it was time to hold her accountable."
Clare added that the complaint against Owens focuses on the extensive evidence affirming Brigitte Macron's gender, stating, "Brigitte was born a woman, she's always been a woman." He warned that if Owens continued to make claims, the damage award would be substantial at trial.
