'Dancing queen' wants donations for 100th birthday
Briefly

Gwynneth Pedler from Dulwich aims for donations to St Christopher's Hospice instead of gifts for her 100th birthday. She has trained for a dancing routine to ABBA's "Dancing Queen" for her celebration with over 100 guests. After receiving physiotherapy at the hospice, she regained the use of her left leg after an accident. Pedler shares fond memories of being evacuated during WWII and attributes her longevity to her career in education and experiences in the Women's Royal Naval Service, emphasizing the hospice's positive impact and supportive environment.
"They do such wonderful work - not only with physiotherapy and art therapy - but all the other things that they do, in all sorts of other areas."
"I thought it was ambitious but they said no - it wasn't."
"As a child, she was evacuated from London to the countryside during WWII, where she recalls a very long walk to school, something she wasn't keen on."
"It was her time in the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS) that taught her discipline, she says."
