Microsoft announces 50% price hike for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
"Microsoft justifies the new price for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate with a series of upgrades and additional content. For starters, the streaming resolution is bumped up to 1440p. For content, Ultimate subscribers will now get access to 75 day one releases a year. From mid-November, they will also get Fortnite Crew (worth $12/month) and Ubisoft+ Classic ($8/month). Starting today, Ultimate subscribers can play Hogwarts Legacy and Diablo IV."
"Introducing the new Xbox Game Pass tiers Microsoft also renamed half of the plans, so here's what they are now. The Core plan is renamed Essential, while Standard is now Premium. The Ultimate pass keeps its name, the same goes for the PC Game Pass. We compiled the prices of the old and new plans below. Keep in mind that there was a pretty recent price hike in July 2024. That one was a fairly minor bump - Ultimate went up from $17 to $20."
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price increased by 50%, raising the subscription cost for new subscribers immediately and for existing subscribers on November 4. Microsoft renamed Core to Essential and Standard to Premium while keeping Ultimate and PC Game Pass names unchanged. Ultimate adds 1440p cloud streaming, access to 75 day‑one releases per year, and includes Fortnite Crew (valued $12/month) and Ubisoft+ Classic ($8/month) starting mid‑November. Hogwarts Legacy and Diablo IV are available to Ultimate subscribers immediately. A recent July 2024 price bump raised Ultimate from $17 to $20 before the larger increase. Many subscribers canceled in protest.
