Will the Class of 2025 be the last traditional Leaving Cert year - or will reforms be voted down?
Briefly

The Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI) is accepting proposed reforms to the Leaving Certificate, but the Association of Secondary Teachers in Ireland (ASTI) is still evaluating its members' stance. Concerns have been raised about insufficient resource preparations prior to reform implementation. Principal Lesley Byrne emphasized the need for inclusive reform processes and pointed out existing disparities in resources among schools. While reform is crucial, potential salary losses for teachers may pressure acceptance of changes, despite apprehensions regarding the adequacy of supports, especially concerning artificial intelligence.
Senior cycle reform is absolutely welcome and is long overdue. But the crux of the issue is that teachers feel... that the reform is being done to them instead of with them or by them.
There's really genuine questions to be asked about the disparity in resources that different schools have access to... Some schools have good lab equipment and wifi, others don't.
