"Yooo DHS i didnt approve to be used in this. I know you know my address so send a check. And please take this down and please keep me out of your 'banger' deportation videos. When it comes to immigration my thoughts and heart are alot more nuanced than this video allows. Bye! https://t.co/5v5gagf4Dr - Theo Von (@TheoVon) September 24, 2025"
""Heard you got deported, dude. Bye.""
"Donald Trump's White House, the DHS, and ICE have consistently flouted copyright law to promote their policy of mass deportations. Earlier this year, JAY-Z hit ICE with a copyright takedown for using the 2003 song, "Public Service Announcement," and just this week, the White House shared a video of ICE arrests set to the Pokémon theme song."
Conservative-leaning podcaster Theo Von had a short clip of him saying "Heard you got deported, dude. Bye." used without his permission in a DHS video titled "Bye." Von publicly objected, asked DHS to take the video down, requested payment, and said his immigration views are more nuanced than the clip suggests. The incident reflects a pattern of the Trump White House, DHS and ICE using copyrighted music and media to promote mass deportations, including JAY-Z's takedown of ICE for using "Public Service Announcement" and a White House video set to the Pokémon theme song.
