Yoshinobu Yamamoto Reads To Students For Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation
Briefly

The Los Angeles Dodgers, alongside the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, hosted a dual immersion story time at Dunsmore Elementary, featuring Yoshinobu Yamamoto. This event, part of the LA Reads program, promotes literacy and cultural inclusion. Yamamoto read a story by Hayao Miyazaki and interacted with students, emphasizing the importance of representation. LADF aims to diversify literacy efforts, and Yamamoto's participation highlights success for Japanese children. The event celebrated the Dodgers' 2024 World Series championship, enhancing community connections through storytelling and cultural engagement.
"We did this last year and this year, and I'm very thankful to be given this opportunity," Yamamoto said through his interpreter. "I'd like to do this if there's another opportunity."
"It is so important for them to be able see someone today that looks like them, that speaks their language," LADF CEO Nichol Whiteman said.
"I think it's great for kids to see Japanese people coming here and becoming successful," Yamamoto said.
"We are the 2024 World Series champions, and we're still basking in that glow. So to have a World Champion here today is a big deal."
