"Choo and Nguyen claimed they had been "unjustly" locked out of their Mardi Gras email accounts and were unable to engage with members of the public to address the growing backlash."
"The motions, which PinkNews has seen, direct the pair to admit they violated its conflict of interest policies by sending the email without warning."
Two Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras co-directors, Luna Choo and Damien Nguyen, supported a member resolution asking corporate sponsors to show support for the trans community through parade floats. The Board voted on 20 January to deny the motion, saying it conflicted with policies on creative direction. Choo and Nguyen say they were locked out of Mardi Gras email accounts and later received notices that the Board had tabled and passed motions censuring them. The motions require admission of conflict-of-interest violations for sending the email and threaten immediate interim risk controls, including suspension or expulsion, if unresolved.
