Crowdfunder launched for wetland walkway
"A 10,000 crowdfunding campaign has been launched to build a boardwalk through a wetland in north London. The Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust and the Friends of Alexandra Park said they hoped to raise the funds by 15 June, and added that the walkway would connect park visitors to the wildlife habitat in the south-east corner of the park."
"All donations made during the campaign period would be match funded, with every 1 donated becoming 2, the organisations said. Mark Evison, from Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust, said the boardwalk would create a safe and accessible route to birdwatching areas."
"Patricia Moody, chair of the Friends of Alexandra Park, said she hoped the route would be enjoyed "for generations to come". The project forms part of the park's wider wetlands and rewilding programme, which aims to create healthier habitats for amphibians, aquatic wildlife, birds, insects and native plants."
"Earlier phases of the wetlands project received support from the Mayor of London's Rewild London Fund."
