Ealing Council revamps North Acton Square following resident feedback
"The public square outside North Acton tube station is set to undergo a makeover to address local concerns about its appearance. The square is fairly new, as it used to be a petrol station. However, between 2015 and 2019, the site was cleared and converted into a public square, featuring steps and a ramp leading down to the station. Now, Ealing Council has started work on some upgrades, including the addition of better lighting and a row of "shed" shops, which will be rented out."
"There will also be a new 'village hut' for residents to use as a social space. Council leader Peter Mason said: "Back in 2021 we asked our residents what they thought about North Acton's streets and spaces. We have developed these plans for the revitalised square based on the ideas and suggestions of local people, who know the area better than most.""
Ealing Council is upgrading the public square outside North Acton tube station with improved lighting, rentable 'shed' shops, and a 'village hut' social space. The site was cleared between 2015 and 2019 and converted from a former petrol station into a public square with steps and a ramp to the station. Initial tenants include Awakener Coffee, Sound Burger, Hamsa the Barber, Old Oak Tap micro pub, and Supermegahyperdupermarketmetroexpress. Plans were developed following a 2021 resident consultation and are being delivered in partnership with Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation, community organisations, Imperial College London, and several developers.
