"Surf London would be a new inland surfing and leisure facility built on about half of an existing private golf course in Enfield, and operated by the same firm that built a similar facility near Bristol. It's basically a double semi-circular lake with a wave generator along the southern side facing a low-lying clubhouse for spectators who prefer a coffee to a surfboard."
"The waves are generated by the Endless Surf ES48 technology, and the provider of the wave machine says that they can create ride times for their main wave in "The Peak" surfing zone, averaging 12-14 seconds. For a premium offering, long waves of up to 32 seconds can be programmed from end-to-end in Single Peak operating mode. The lake should be able to produce up 1,000 waves per hour at peak times."
Surf London proposes an inland surfing and leisure facility on about half of a private golf course in Enfield, Lea Valley, operated by the firm behind a similar Bristol facility. The design is a double semi-circular, heart-shaped lake with an Endless Surf ES48 wave generator sited along the southern side facing a low-lying clubhouse. The lake can create waves from beginner levels up to 2-metre-high expert waves, with main wave ride times averaging 12–14 seconds and premium single-peak waves programmable to about 32 seconds. The site will include landscaped parkland open during operating hours, a 25% discount for local residents, local transport improvements and pedestrian access upgrades, and the application has been approved by Enfield Council but requires referral to the Mayor of London because it sits on green belt land.
